Poreover

Poreover AIReader · Poreover AIWriter

Pore over every page. Write every word yourself.

A reading companion and a writing companion that share one dial. Turn it to set how present the AI is: silent, a Socratic partner, or an exacting critic. It gives sharper questions and harder critique, and never takes the thinking off you.

Invite-only beta. Ask for an invite or try the dial below.

Deep · not thereThe companion stays quiet. Nothing is sent to a model; you get a prompt in your own words, and the reading and writing stay yours.

See it work

Same page, three kinds of company

Pick a surface and a move, then turn the dial. The companion changes how much it says, never who does the thinking.

Where I Lived, and What I Lived For

I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. I did not wish to live what was not life, living is so dear; nor did I wish to practise resignation, unless it was quite necessary.

Select a passage, then choose a move

Explain · Deep

Illustrative example. The responses are written to show the shape each mode returns in the apps, not captured from a live model.

The Spectrum Dial

A request for more presence, not for the answer

Every tool in both apps listens to the same dial. Higher settings bring sharper insight, never more authorship.

One deliberate exception: Compare, which reads several works against one question, still calls a model in Deep, because lining passages up side by side is not something a prompt can do for you. Even then it only locates and aligns. It never concludes.

For reading slowly on purpose

Bring the text you want to understand, mark it up, and let the companion question you about it. The goal is not to have got through the text. It is to understand it.

Nine moves on any passage

Select a sentence and choose what you need. Your own notes stay separate from anything the companion adds.

See how the prose works

Layer the page with verbs, nouns, adjectives, adverbs and literary devices, plus etymology in Diabolical. Readability scores run in your browser.

Scaffolds, not summaries

Dialogue offers Question me, Connect the dots and Challenge me. Diabolical offers Find the thesis, Challenge the claim and Trace the argument. Deep recaps your own last notes.

Your reading, in your hands

Work through it takes one hard passage: you interpret it, meet one intervention, then revise your own account. The Argument tab holds the map you build by marking claims, reasons, assumptions and tensions; the companion only questions it. Outside Deep, a margin note asks one question beside a paragraph when you ask for it.

Compare works on one question

Choose two to five texts, ask one shared question, and read across them side by side. Every observation names its source and paragraph. Come to terms first sets out each source’s own use of the key words, in its own quotations, before you compare.

Every mark, findable

Search every highlight and note across every document, with links straight back to the passage. Your place in each text is saved.

For drafting in your own words

An editor that critiques before it rewrites. It asks what you are trying to say and points at the sentence that fails to say it. Diabolical may offer a replacement, but nothing changes until you accept it.

Type it or say it

A markdown editor with a toolbar, preview, and serif or mono type. Or dictate a first draft and shape it after. Stylus input is next.

A voice in the margin

The Margin runs beside the draft. In Deep your notes stay local. Dialogue asks one question; Diabolical names the weakness and the rule.

Outlines that make you answer

Deep gives three blank slots. Dialogue turns your draft into the questions it must answer. Diabolical maps it onto a Toastmasters structure and names each gap. Find the argument pulls out your own sentences that read like points, so you can pin the ones that say what you mean.

Style you can see

Passive voice, sentence variety, adverb density, repeated words and readability, all measured in your browser. Dialogue and Diabolical add a tone scale. Diabolical adds a revision checklist.

Diagnose before polishing

The revision pass groups what it finds by argument, structure, reference and sentence. While a structure note is open, the sentence-level ones wait behind Polish later, so you do not tidy a sentence you may cut.

Nothing is overwritten

History keeps snapshots with word-level diffs and one-step restore. Suggested edits are cards you can inspect: the change, its effect on a reader, and the craft rule behind it. Nothing applies without your click, and history shows which phrases came from accepted suggestions. Dialogue gives the concern and the rule, with no replacement.

Take it with you

Export any draft as Markdown, plain text or PDF, in every mode. Download everything you have written and marked from your account at any time.

Reading feeds writing

What you mark in one app waits for you in the other

The Reader and the Writer share one account, so the passages that moved you are there when you sit down to draft.

Mark it in the Reader

Highlight a passage and add a note on why it matters, in your words.

Send it across

One passage with → Writer, or every highlight in a document at once.

Draft with it beside you

It waits under From the Reader with its source. Find related reading surfaces your notes while you write.

“Saved without comment. Write why it matters before you use it.”

The note a passage carries when you send it across without one of your own

The panel

Six specialists, three findings at most

Turn the dial up and a panel reads over your shoulder. Each specialist looks for one thing; you only ever see the three findings that matter most, each marked Subtle, Worth a look or Strong, and each one dismissable. Deep never convenes it.

Frank Fact-checker

Claims that lean on facts you have not given.

Grammar Llama

Sentences that do not parse the way you meant.

Contradiction Conrad

Places where the piece argues with itself.

Cliché Constable

Stock phrases doing the work an argument should do.

Waffle Warden

Hedges and filler that soften what you mean.

Thread Theseus

The line of the argument, and where it is lost.

In the Writer, Dialogue asks two specialists about a selection when you ask, and Diabolical seats all six when you pause. In the Reader the panel only runs when you select a passage and ask for it.

What we hold to

The thinking stays yours

You think first

Every surface asks for your words before the AI’s. Silence is a feature.

Deep means nothing sent

Outside Compare, Deep reaches no model at all. It is enforced on the server, not promised in the interface.

Advice cites craft

Critique names the rule it rests on, from Adler to Orwell to Toastmasters, rather than taste.

Your work is yours

Nothing replaces your draft without you. Export it, or download everything, whenever you like.

Read closely. Write clearly.
Keep the thinking.
